PLN Launches Their Internet Service Called Iconnet

Faculty of Computer and Engineering – PT Indonesia Comnets Plus (ICON+), a subsidiary of PT PLN (Persero), recently launched an internet service product based on a fiber optic network, called Iconnet. The prices offered to consumers are quite competitive compared to other fixed broadband internet service providers such as IndiHome owned by PT Telkom Indonesia Tbk (Persero), First Media, Biznet, MyRepublic, and others.

Starting from IDR 185,000 per month, you can subscribe to unlimited internet. For the Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi (Jabodetabek) areas, subscription fees range from IDR 185,000 to IDR 427,000 per month for speeds from 10 Mbps to 100 Mbps. If you are interested in registering and installing PLN Iconnet, PLN ICON+ has extended its promotional program until the end of June 2021, including free installation fees. Normally, in regular conditions, the installation fee reaches IDR 250,000.

So, which areas are covered by PLN Iconnet? According to the Iconnet website, iconnet.id, Iconnet services are available in several major cities in Indonesia, such as Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi (Jabodetabek), as well as in several major cities on the islands of Java, Bali, Sumatra, Kalimantan, and Eastern Indonesia, such as West Papua.

Subscription fees vary between regions/islands. Prices in the Jabodetabek area are among the cheapest, and the most expensive are in Eastern Indonesia with the cheapest fee being IDR 196,000 for speeds around 10 Mbps. For more detailed information, you can click on the desired product package section labeled “Order Now” on the iconnet.id website. After that, a display will appear with three options:

  • New Installation, for registering a new installation.
  • Change Service, for applying for an upgrade/downgrade of the service.
  • Upgrade Promo, for upgrading the service from 5 Mbps to 10 Mbps with a promo upgrade. For the upgrade promo to 10 Mbps, the price remains the same as the 5 Mbps price for 2 months after upgrading to 20 Mbps.

By clicking “New Installation,” for instance, it will be known whether your home or office location is covered by this service or not. You will be asked to fill in some information such as the address of the internet service installation with detailed information like the name of the complex or housing, street name, house number, RT/RW, and others, then you will also be asked to provide the exact coordinates of your location by clicking on the “Coordinate Point” section, then there is also information about the FTTH access description for knowing the FTTH installation access to the Iconnet installation address, whether your location has underground cable installation or aerial cables or you live in an apartment/boarding house and so on.
