Alma Ata University (UAA) Yogyakarta was officially established and organized by the Alma Ata Foundation on December 21, 2015, in accordance with the Decree of the Minister of Research, Technology, and Higher Education Number 155/KPT/I/2015. UAA is a transformation of Alma Ata College of Health Sciences (STIKES), which was founded on June 29, 2006, based on the Decree of the Minister of National Education of the Republic of Indonesia No: 108/D/0/2006, and Alma Ata College of Religious Sciences (STIA). In 2021, there were changes in the names of faculties and the grouping of study programs within Alma Ata University, as per Rector’s Decree No. 195/A/SK/UAA/XI/2021, which resulted in the renaming of the Faculty of Computer Science (FKOM) to the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering (FKT). The purpose of this change is to develop new study programs in the future with an engineering background. Global competition and the current digital era demand that universities continue to develop to improve the quality of education.
FKT currently manages two study programs: the Bachelor of Information Systems and the Bachelor of Informatics. As a private higher education institution under the coordination of the Higher Education Service Institution (LLDIKTI) Region V, UAA is obligated to implement the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, which includes education, research, and community service. Each area will be developed in a focused manner according to the vision, mission, goals, and objectives of UAA. FKT adheres to the core value system of UAA, which is based on the teachings of Islam as a mercy to the world (‘Rahmatan lil ‘Alamin’), to build excellence in higher education in order to achieve the vision and mission of the university. The value system at UAA is based on three core values: (1) Alma Ata, (2) We Are Healthy, and (3) GREATLIFE. Alma Ata comes from the Arabic words ‘Ata,’ meaning ‘presence,’ and ‘Alima,’ meaning ‘based on knowledge.’ Thus, Alma Ata is intended to be present (ATA) in the community to build a professional society that upholds the values of knowledge and prioritizes scientific principles as the foundation for all actions (ALIMA). The second value requires FKT to create an atmosphere conducive to realizing a global vision for every academic member at UAA to gain adequate world recognition, promoting a pure heart in every effort, whether in earning a living or studying, now and forever. The third value encourages all academic members at UAA to consider all their activities at UAA as an act of worship to glorify the name of Allah SWT, and it motivates the UAA community to provide excellent service to all stakeholders, meeting the criteria of: God-presented, Responsive, Eager, Adaptive, Trusted, Lovely, Intentional, Friendly, and Efficient. This value system is also used as a work foundation for all administrators and staff.
