Faculty of Computers and Engineering — As a strategic step in the journey towards World Class University status, Universitas Alma Ata (UAA) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). This MoU marks a collaboration between two leading educational institutions which aims to expand cooperation in various fields, including research, publications and other academic activities.
Previously, UAA had established partnerships with several top universities such as America, Taiwan, the Philippines and Thailand, and now the focus has shifted to Malaysia, with UKM as its newest partner. As one of the leading state universities in Bangi, Malaysia, UKM has achieved international recognition by ranking 159th in the QS World University Rankings 2024, ranking 28th in the QS world university ranking Asia, and ranking 5th best in Malaysia.
With the signing of this MoU, carried out by the Chancellor of UAA, Prof. Dr. H. Hamam Hadi, M.S., Sc.D., SpGK, and UKM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato’ Gs. Ts. DR. Moch. Ekhwan bin Hj. Toriman, it is hoped that cross-border cooperation between the two institutions will be more productive. Apart from that, this MoU also provides an opportunity for universities in Jogja to engage in broader collaboration and expand their academic network.
Collaboration between UAA and UKM has started in the last year through various research activities and joint publications. It is hoped that this MoU can become a strong foundation for the two universities in achieving their common goals of improving the quality of education and research and creating a wider positive impact in the world of education.
